Questions for Discussion:
Reread 1 Thessalonians 4:13-5:11
- What is the most pressing need in your life today? Does this immediate need ever crowd out the urgency of the Gospel? If so, how?
- What does it mean that, as Bonhoeffer wrote, “God is entirely in earnest”? In what ways do we play at spiritual things rather than taking them seriously?
- Sometimes Christians mistakenly believe that our ultimate end will be cloud-sitting and harp-playing for all eternity. (Sounds boring!) What does Scripture teach us we have to look forward to when the “day of the Lord” arrives? You may want to reread 1 Thessalonians 4:11-12 and read John 14:1-3, 2 Corinthians 5:1-5, 2 Peter 3:13, and Revelation 21:1-5 to help in your discussion.
