Our Mission
At PCOM Kids, our mission is to partner with families to teach kids to walk with Jesus for a lifetime. We believe that children are an integral part of the congregation and we strive to welcome and invite them into worship every Sunday.
What to Expect (Sunday Routine)
Nursery care (birth to age 3) and Sunday School (pre-school-5th grade) is offered each Sunday at our 11:00 Awake service. While we strive to create a welcoming and fun environment, we understand that some children may prefer to sit with their parents at the service and we welcome them to do so.
Check in: Babies and toddlers need to check in at the nursery before the service starts. Sunday School children will be checked in at the children's check-in station just inside the door of The Commons. Staff will be available to help complete the check in process. They will print a name tag for your child and a guardian receipt for you to present at pickup time. Kids will then sit with their families for the first part of the worship service (what we call “Family Time”). Approximately 15 minutes into the service, the children will be called forward to sit on the steps for the children’s story time, then they’ll be dismissed to meet their Sunday School teachers at the back of the worship space and they’ll be led to their classrooms.
Check out: At the end of the service, parents will go to their child’s classroom and present the guardian receipt. On Communion Sundays (the first of each month), the checkout process is a bit different. So that children can participate in communion if they choose, they are brought down to the Sanctuary building. Parents are dismissed to pick up their children in the Sanctuary narthex and bring them back to share in communion and the end of the service.
Curriculum
In support of our conviction that children are an integral part of the congregation, we write our Sunday School curriculum to teach about the same lessons the adults and youth are studying in the sermons. Our hope is that this will facilitate family discussions of what we are learning at church.
Staff/Safety
The safety of our children is our first priority. All adults (staff and volunteers) in Sunday School classes have been background checked and trained in our rigorous Child Protection Policy. If your child has any allergies or special needs we would love to have a conversation with you about how we can best meet their needs and keep them safe.
